Oct 20, 2020 | Inspiration | 0 comments

This month, Alusplash is featuring the amazing kitchen transformation of one of our lovely customers @leafygreenterrace.
We had a wonderful time chatting about the inspirations and ideas behind their design choices. Read on to find out more about their beautiful home, and what encouraged them to incorporate Alusplash in their brand new kitchen design!

Tell us a little bit about yourself

Hello! I’m Rebecca, I live with my husband Sam and our scruffy Jack Russell, Fonzie. I work as a media manager for a facility management company based in Berkshire.

Why did you choose to renovate?

My husband and I rented our property for 11 years before finally having the opportunity to purchase it last year. Having lived here for so long, we knew right away what would need updating, and what could wait. Our kitchen was at the absolute top of the list, especially since it was still the original one that had been installed when the house was built – 30 years ago!

I instantly fell in love with AluSplash.

It has transformed our kitchen completely!

It is so easy to keep clean and makes the space feel really special.

What inspired you to start sharing your kitchen transformation journey on social media?

I absolutely love following interior decoration accounts for design inspiration, and it made complete sense to me to start one of my own when we began our renovations. It has been so much fun sharing all the changes we’ve made in our home with my followers.

What made you choose AluSplash?

Lots of things, but primarily the colour! We purchased our kitchen through Wickes and saw Alusplash on their website. I instantly fell in love with the Olive Green splashback. Initially, it was only going behind the cooker but the price allowed us to wrap it around the entire kitchen without breaking our budget. It has transformed our kitchen completely! It is so easy to keep clean and makes the space feel really special.

What is your favourite space in your home?

Right now, it would have to be our beautiful kitchen, especially after the transformation it’s been through! It is finally a space that truly meets our needs and makes us want to be in it all the time. After years of making do with a basic rental layout, we were able to completely redesign the space in a way that made it work for us.

Did you make any changes to your home during the lockdown period?

Lots! The kitchen was due to be installed in May so we were getting restless. We started off updating our home office space with some new wall art and a rug. We then added to our ever increasing houseplant collection by ordering from the amazing Bakker.com, who deliver live plants straight to your door! And finally we updated our walk-in larder space to incorporate an extra freezer and our reorganized shelves.

What is your interior design style?

My husband and I really enjoy cosy and lived-in spaces, and our tiny terrace fit the bill perfectly! We also like to spend a lot of time outdoors, and love having that energy within our home, which is why our entire house is filled with warm, earthy tones, and lots of green accents.

What brands or trends inspired you when designing your home?

We’re not hugely into brands, but we do like to incorporate elements of natural wood into all our rooms. This ties in to our more outdoorsy personalities as well, and is a way of bringing the outside, in. There are still plenty more home projects for us to look into, and in a couple of months, we’ll likely be adding some wood panelling near our back door.

What are 3 Instagram accounts that inspired your kitchen transformation?

I just love @ourlayeredhome it’s such a confident and fun account! I wish I was that brave with clashing colours and patterns. I also enjoy following @thegirlwiththegreenceiling , her colour palette is right up my street. And finally @laurelchick has a beautifully curated grid, and is well worth a follow.

What item could you not live without in your home?

My one-of-a-kind oak coffee table that my father-in-law made by hand. It is the most beautiful piece of wood, and we get so many compliments on it.

What is next on your home interior wish list?

We’re looking to update our family bathroom next. It doesn’t get a lot of light so we’re planning to embrace the darkness and go for darker colours and tones, like black, and deep green.

Thanks so much for talking to us about yur kitchen transformation, and enjoy your amazing new home!
